Tumalo rests in the heart of central Oregon along the beautiful Deschutes River. Located just ten miles northwest from Bend, this is a small, quaint unincorporated community of just a few hundred people, many who have strong ties to the area having lived and farmed or ranched here for generations. With a quaint downtown along quiet Cook Avenue offering a handful of cute restaurants and coffee shops, homebuyers will see that prices vary in Tumalo with many being very affordable while others are more exclusive, high end custom homes. There are two schools here, the Tumalo Community for elementary and middle school, and Cascades Academy, a private school that serves pre-k through high school.

Tumalo is for people who desire to live in a rural setting, amid breathtaking views and total privacy, while neighboring communities provide more amenities. Popular with equestrians because of the easy access to trails, most residents live outside of Tumalo because here the region is zoned Exclusive Farm Use and many parcels are 20 acres or more. Nearby is Tumalo State Park offering exceptional camping, hiking, river trails and wildlife.  Up the road is Mt. Bachelor well known for having the best skiing and snowboarding experiences for every age.  Visitors flock to see Tumalo Falls described as “Mother Nature at her best,” to view several waterfalls including a 97 foot waterfall ideal, the perfect spot for picnicking.
